To The Great Adventurer
Here’s to the ultimate adventurer; my idol in that regard. Never a hesitation when an opportunity was presented. Not once. Every chance was taken and experienced completely. Nothing ever turned away. We can all learn a lot from our puppy’s. I aspire to have that kind of adventurous spirit and live like a dog. Rest easy Kebo. Love ya girl.

Motivational Writing; moving forward and more future plans
The proverbial mouse on the wheel has been my feelings the past couple weeks. Traveling and seeing the world is amazing. I’d give anything to be able to do it indefinitely. But, even I know that it’s not free. So, I’m back to the working man’s world for a while again. It’s not so bad; I’m fortunate enough to be working and storing away a little loot again.
While it may be hard to imagine that I’ve got new projects underway when I can’t even make moderately frequent blog postings here seems preposterous. It’s true. I’ve got pages of ideas for writing things I’m slowly working on now. And I’ve also gotten started on yet another website. This will be much more than just a blog though. Much more informative and focused.
So I suggest that as opposed to apathy towards words, it’s more like a calm before the storm. I’m working and the season has become busy much earlier than normal with our week of summer vacation in March. I’m pretty much in the black with finances from my last adventure. Colorado will be coming later this year, albeit drastically shorter than my 6 week escapade in Seattle. Beyond my e-life, I’m just trying to continue down the path juggling work and relaxation as well as healthy eating and even a little exercise (yes I said little, I wasn’t lying. Golfing counts if I’m walking).
And for anyone wondering how my pup is doing. She’s still kicking for now. She’s unfortunately getting down to skin bones and tail though. I love her much and I’ve been spending as many moments as I can with her in these final hours. She’s an awesome inspiration. Even at this point, today she was trotting around outside, rolling in the sun. No matter how tired she looks, she still wags her tail for me and licks my hand when I stop scratching her ears. I rarely thought about how much we can learn from dogs until recently. We’ve got the best lives of most of the people who have ever lived in all of the history of the world. Even the greatest kings and rulers of the world didn’t have cars, they couldn’t hop on a plane and be on the other side of the world within a few hours. Maybe all these great things that we think make us happy are part of why everyone seems to be so miserable.
Take some time this week to get out. Get a little sunburnt. Close your eyes and embrace a cold breeze in the brisk April air. Look at the life coming out as the trees bud, and the grass becomes green again. Turn off your computer and take your dog for a walk. Many people will be amazed at how much happier we can feel if we stop worrying about the latest iphone app. There are studies that say a 45 minute walk everyday can do more for people who are depressed than the medication prescribed to us by doctors. Get out there, by the time you get back, that app will probably be obsolete anyway. Safe travels for you and your pup.
Remembering Life Is Finite
I know that it’s been rather sporadic in my posting the past few weeks since my return back to the right coast. I apologize to all of you who’ve come to expect some sort of posting. The last month has been a little wild of a ride for me. I’ve started working again. Counting cans because I was quite broke after my left coast adventure. I hurt myself some because for whatever reason I thought exercising might be beneficial for me. I’ve also been to a bachelor party, have plans now for two more (what’s the deal with everyone getting married?) and have celebrated three times now for this glorious holiday of green beer and boiled meat.
I’m tired, still sore, and still really broke. I’ve always been a firm believer in that you must live all you can now. Don’t wait for tomorrow, because no one ever sits on their deathbed dreaming they did less in their lives. I want to be that first person who can say it. Anyway, where am I going with this exactly? I’m sorry this won’t be nearly as interesting or inspirational as I normally am. And, there’s no great excuse for why I’ve been so absent from my computer duties.
But I encourage all of you to get out and enjoy as much time with all of those in your lives. Your dog and cat included. They are a strong part of your family, and will miss them immensely when they are gone. Understanding that life is not forever might make things easier when faced with arriving near the end of it. Easier? No, wrong word. Much. . . I dunno.
Dog is man’s best friend. And my best friend is nearing the end of her life now. Cancer knows no boundaries, and is now taking it’s toll in her. It’s naive to think that this day would never come. We all know it will someday, but no one ever really can grasp the idea that it will be them.
Be thankful for every picture and memory. Every walk that left you both tired. Remember swimming in the ocean and rolling around in the snow. My dog never stopped to plan out the adventure. If I opened the door to go for a ride, or put on her leash to head into the woods. She never stopped. She took the immediate adventure with excitement. When the opportunity arose, she embraced it and loved every moment of it. I’ve learned a lot about myself in that regard. And a lot about how to live my life.
Remembering that life is finite, is the best way to live each day. Today may be the last time I can _____________. (insert anything you want to do/see/experience). If the door is open, run out it like there is no consequence. Kebo always did, and I believe if she could talk, she would still say she didn’t do enough. And she took on every adventure that came up. I’ve got so much catching up to do. Love my pup.
Live Life Regardless of Consequence
I hope this means as much to you all as it does to me. Enjoy.
